It’s Alive!!!

8 Nov

Hello, friends!! It’s been a CRAZY week and a half in my neck of the woods, what with hurricanes and nor’easters and other vengeful weather events, and things are just starting to get back to normal A LITTLE BIT. For me, that means I can sleep in my own bed again and take hot showers and watch TV and come back here, to you. But I’m lucky. BIG TIME. I’m thankful for all of your good thoughts, though. They were SUPER, and so sweet.

I’m hoping to get things up and running again on le blog by this weekend. Because even though I wasn’t able to actually BLOG about anything for almost two weeks, I’ve been reading lots. Truly, the only bonus of being powerless and a gypsy for 10 days.

It’s great to be back, friends! My world wasn’t the same without YOU!

Tripping Over My First Blogoversary

29 Oct

They Say It’s Your Birthday

Over the course of time, lots of things have happened on October 29th. John Glenn went back into space at age 77 (astronauts are the best). Richard Dreyfuss and Winona Ryder were born. Duane Allman, one the greatest guitarists in the WHOLE WORLD died on October 29th. The stock market crash known as “Black Tuesday” started the Great Depression on October 29th. In 1964, there was this MAJOR jewel heist from The American Museum of Natural History. And, one year ago today, I wrote my first post on Tripping Over Books. Small potatoes, friends, but a big deal in the life of moi.

I can’t believe it’s been a year already. This must be what new mothers feel like on their first baby’s birthday. What happened to the time? One year seems like both hardly any time at all, and more than enough time for something epic to have a huge affect on my life. I know I’ve said before that I feel like I can be more myself on this blog, talking to you all about books and nerdy things and life, and that’s the truth. So THANK YOU for every time you’ve visited, commented, shared your thoughts. It’s been an incredible year, and that is really all down to you. Here’s to another year full of awesome people, awesome books, and more good times than we know what do with!

Moonlighting!

26 Mar

No, not the TV show, guys. (So, ok. I just realized that it’s very likely LOTS of you are too young to even know what I’m talking about just there. I am filled with ALL THE SADNESS.) I’m talking about something infinitely cooler:

I’m going to be reviewing middle grade books over at Bookalicious.org! HUZZAH!

This website is going to be chock full of bookish goodness, friends. TONS of columns, lots of reviews for all levels of children’s literature–including picture books, which ROCKS, publishing news, issues, giveaways. There’s literally NOTHING bad going on over there. I can’t stress how excited I am to be a part of this site with so many incredible bloggers!! Please go and check things out!

My reviews will be posted every other Wednesday, with my first one going up THIS WEEK, and I can’t wait to spread some middle grade love all over the place! But seriously, don’t sleep on Bookalicious.org ever. There’s great stuff going up every day. See you guys over there! 🙂

Busting the Newbie Blues

12 Jan

Hey, Baby Blogger! How YOU Doin’?

Starting a blog can be lots of things all at once: exciting, nerve-wracking, time-consuming, confusing, and overwhelming. But for me, even when it was–IS–some or all of those things, it’s always something I look forward to, and I’m eager to do MORE. But it’s all about learning as you go, and that’s both good and bad sometimes.

Thankfully, the lovely folks over at Small Review are hosting this Busting the Newbie Blues event to get both baby bloggers and more established bloggers talking about the 5 Ws: who, what, when, where, and why. This is such a great event! You can check out more here.
